Women of Excellence Ministry:

This is a ministry that encompasses all Christian women leaders, mainly professionals and even Pastor’s wives take part.  We purpose to see Evangelical Christian Women Leaders with spiritual convictions, trained, equipped, empowered and are captivated with the gospel truth to minister effectively to meet holistically the challenges of fellow women, families and communities as a whole throughout  Africa and beyond.  This ministry was launched in Uganda in July 2008.   It has ministered to hundreds of women in Uganda and back in Kenya where it started.   It continues to thrive in dealing with the spiritual needs and challenges of Women Christian Leaders.   So far the Women of Excellence Ministry has birthed a number of  chapters: The Mbarara (Uganda) Women of Excellence Ministry launched in 2009 , Busia (Uganda) Women of Excellence Ministry launched in November 2012 and others.

Vision:

Evangelical Christian Women Leaders with spiritual convictions, trained equipped, empowered and are captivated with gospel truths to minister effectively to meet holistically the challenges of fellow women and families and communities as a whole, throughout Uganda, Africa and beyond.

Proclaim-Africa Women’s Ministry targets Christian Women Leaders/Professionals in various leadership positions and areas of influence in the Evangelical Churches of Jesus Christ. Leaders at whatever level are the influencers, pace setters and mobilizers. They are movers of families, communities and society. Christian leaders are appointed and set up by the Lord to act on His behalf as we read in Romans 13:1 “…… for there is no authority except that which God has established.” If well trained and equipped for ministry, women leaders will make a strong impact on their communities.

The History:

The History of Women of Excellence Ministry: This started in Nairobi, Kenya in the Mid 90’s. Mrs. Martha Henderson of Missionary with Good Shepherd with her husband had a vision to bring the women leadership of Nairobi International School of Theology (NIST) and Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology (NEGS) That is, through Mrs. Lois Seruyange who was directing the Women’s Training Program at NIST and Mrs. Ludiah Langat who was directing the Women’s Training Program at NEGST. Martha’s desire and vision was for us to take our teaching, training and ministry to women leaders beyond the classroom and confines of our Seminaries in order to address women’s challenges and needs in communities. Thus, Mary Whelchel, an author of a number of very challenging books on spiritual life as well as Director of Working Women Radio Program in Chicago, USA was invited to come and launch this ministry in Nairobi. She was to be the main, Teacher/Speaker in Mid 90’s. She was assisted by Andrea Nicole, Mrs. Lois Seruyange, was requested to host and be in charge of organizing on the ground and also to invite women, in 2000 at the Nairobi International School of Theology (NIST) Seminary. Mrs. Seruyange continued to organise on the ground until they left NIST in 2003. She left Mrs. Elsy Ruingu, a member of the organizing committee at that time and, secretary at NIST to be in charge of women of Excellence Ministry. This ministry continues to run in Nairobi to date.

When Mrs. Lois Seruyange came back to her home country, Uganda, Mary called her and asked if we could bring this ministry to Uganda. I was very delighted because this ministry had been very effective in Kenya and had born another ministry to single women. Besides, Mary is a wonderful communicator and teacher.

Thus we launched Women of Excellence Ministry in Kampala in July 2008 at UMA Hall. This ministry has ministered to hundreds of women leaders, both in Kenya and Uganda, as a whole. We are grateful to God for the gifting in Mary Whelchel and fellow speakers, Lucinda Fink and Tracy Manson and our fellow Ugandan speakers including Mrs. Lois Seruyange. We are grateful for members of organizing committee who have prayed and worked tirelessly to ensure that this ministry continues in order to deal with spiritual needs and challenges of Women Christian Leaders. We are praying that the Lord will prosper this ministry to even greater heights as He continues to make it relevant.

We praise God for the two Chapters, the first one was Mbarara Women of Excellence launched in 2009 and the second one being Busia Women of Excellence launched November – December 2012. Women of Excellence also held a very successful Seminar in Mbale Eastern Uganda with the attendance of 45 Women Leaders. They desire to start their own Chapter.
